A few simple habits can help you understand your vehicle, keep track of servicing and notice changes that need attention.
Start with a plan that suits your car

You don’t need to become a mechanic. Knowing what is due, keeping a few records and mentioning changes early can make looking after your car more straightforward.
1. Check your vehicle’s maintenance schedule
Service intervals vary between vehicles. Oil changes, filters, spark plugs, belts and other items can each have their own requirements.
Check both the time and distance recommendations where specified. Also read any guidance about demanding driving conditions that may apply to how you use your vehicle.

2. Keep a simple service record
A folder of receipts or a note on your phone can be enough. Record the date, mileage and work completed at each visit.

3. Get familiar with the basic checks
